The Warrior (2001) (UK)

When the soldier (Irfan khan) of a ruthless feudal king in Rajasthan, India decides to live a life of nonviolence, things turn against him. His escape and journey from Rajasthan deserts to Himalayas is aesthetic and visually breath taking. This British film was brilliantly filmed using great Indian landscapes with an Indian story, even spoken language is Hindi. I have watched it with very low expectations, but I found it is as an excellent one.

At the BAFTA Awards, it won the Alexander Korda Award for Best British Film. It was also selected as the UK's entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, but was rejected by the Academy on the grounds that the Hindi language is not indigenous to Britain.
